How We Met
Paul and Stacie met over 10 years ago in Biology 101 in High School. However, Paul and Stacie did not really get to know each other until summer of 2003, senior year. They met at their groomsman Kevin’s graduation party. Stacie spent the whole time talking with another guy at the party. Paul did not take too kindly to this, stole Stacie’s flip-flop, and sent it afloat, down the river. Stacie was not too thrilled with Paul after getting to know him.
A few weeks later Paul came to Stacie’s 18th birthday party. They were out on a friend’s boat in the middle of a lake sitting next to each other. Stacie was cold, like always, and Paul put his arm around her to keep her warm. Stacie’s opinion of Paul began to change. Over the next few weeks, Paul and Stacie became inseparable. Summer quickly ended and it was time for Paul and Stacie to go off to college.
Paul went to Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach and Stacie stayed in Milwaukee and went to University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Stacie decided to call Paul on September 2nd to see how his first day of school went. Stacie was nervous to call Paul, but it all turn out okay because Paul asked Stacie out! Stacie was so excited, even though Paul and Stacie were about 1200 miles apart. Therefore, for the next month, Paul and Stacie had 5-hour long conversations almost every day. Paul even bought Stacie a webcam so they could see each other.
After Christmas break, Paul and Stacie decided they could not be 1200 miles apart anymore. Therefore, they decided to look for a school that had both of their majors. University of Minnesota-Twin Cities became a clear favorite. On Paul and Stacie’s 1-year anniversary, their parents packed everything in the car and moved them to Minnesota. 5 years later, Paul and Stacie made their Minnesota move a little more permanent by buying a home in a little town called Cannon Falls. Even though they have lived in Minnesota for over 7 years, the lovebirds remain Packer fans.
The Engagement Story
It was seven o’clock Easter morning and Paul was awake while Stacie was still fast asleep. Paul was setting up the surprise of Stacie’s life. Around 9 am, Stacie woke up and took a shower. When she finished there was a card waiting for her on the bathroom vanity and Paul was nowhere to be found. The card told Stacie to look outside.
Once Stacie got outside, she found balloons tied all over the yard. These were no ordinary balloons. First, they were purple, Stacie’s favorite color. Second, there were six of the purple balloons; one for every year they had been dating. Finally, one of the balloons had a clue inside as to where Paul was. Once Stacie popped the balloon, the clue led her to the Cannon River waterfalls. Stacie headed to the park and found Paul waiting patiently on a bench with an Easter basket.
The basket had a teddy bear inside. Embroidered on the teddy bear’s paws was “Forever my Snuggle Bear”. There was also a ring box in the basket. Stacie opened the box and found a sterling silver ring engraved with “has a secret”. She put the two phrases together: “Forever my Snuggle Bear has a secret”. Stacie looked for the secret and found her engagement ring hidden on the bear’s ear. All she could say was, “It’s so pretty!” Oh and of course, she said yes!
